The Move

I read today that in an upcoming episode, Jon and Kate tell the children they are moving. I wonder if they are going to show the move, show the house or will the new episodes even be filmed in the new house. It's obvious the house they have moved to is beyond what the average family can afford. How do they explain their means to be able to afford this house? Or, do they even need to? It's obvious they have a huge fan base, do the fans care how they bought the house? I doubt it. The show is not on its way out like I would hope, no its here for a few more years as well as a few more books "written" by Kate. The fans bought the house for them and will continue to make it possible for Jon and Kate Gosselin to live like the celebrities they think they are.
Great job!

Just another comment

Oh, and instead of just using my comment as basically your whole post, why don't you respond to it?????? Was there ANY profanity in any of my comments??? Nope, didn't think so. Like I said, go back to school.

Kim - Exactly how do you want me to respond to you? You are doing a fine job of demonstrating a typical Gosselin fan. This is the last time I will publish or post any of your nonsense. It was fun while it lasted but it's time for you to move on and create your own blog! Maybe you can title it "Get a Life". Have fun!

Exactly what I mean

Instead of criticizing this blog, try listing reasons why I should feel differently about Kate and Jon Gosselin? Hard to do isn't it?

Hey Kim,
It's hard to do isn't it? It's the same old story, criticize the posts, attack the posters but you can't come up with a single reason why I should change my mind!

The following was sent in from an adoring fan of Kate Gosselin:
How are 100% of the comments from fans of the show are filled with words that you will not publish??? I'm a fan, I'm K (Kim, not Kate. Please, like a mom with 8 kids has time to find and comment on negative blogs) and not one word in my comment was a swear word, was it?????? Seems like you need to go back to school and learn percentages.

Another comment from an adoring fan!

More adoring fans

1. Of course you post comments only after approval. Lady, you've got serious issues. If you're going to start a blog like this at least man up enough to take your own criticism. Seems like you can dish it out, but can't take it. posted by anonymous

2. My goodness Lady, get a life. You have a whole blog set up to criticize a family???? Pathetic. It seems to me, after reading this blog for the first time, that you are Jealous. So what if this family gets to have unique and wonderful experiences??? So what if these kids get to experience things many other kids don't? Is it endangering them?? No. And they don't film all day, every day. They have certain days they film, just like any other reality show. Get a life!

For your information, I publish almost each comment that comes in unless they are filled with profanity. Of the comments that I will not publish, 100% of them are from fans of the Gosselins. Not one comment has ever come from non-fans of the show with words that would make any sailor cringe. What does that say about the "fans?"
Instead of criticizing this blog, try listing reasons why I should feel differently about Kate and Jon Gosselin? Hard to do isn't it?

Here are some past comments from the past:

9. The Gosselins are just trying to do the best they can for their kids, that's all. If they might come across in a certain way, think about how you would be if you had 8 kids.

Saying it like it is!

This post was sent in as a comment by Stefanie. I hope you don't mind that I published it as a post but I feel you nailed it!!!

I started watching Jon and Kate plus 8 season 1. I was really enthralled with the show and amazed at how one person can take care of eight children without loosing their mind. However, as season three and four have hit the air I have lost all respect for this t.v. commercial (oops I mean show).
I think my dislike started in season three when all the children went to Utah skiing. My first thought was why would you take a three year old skiing? Then you see that all of their ski gear was donated to them. This is definitely not reality, and not something children should perceive as reality. We live in a snowy area and I just went today to buy gear for the snow. For a family of four I spent on two pairs of snow boots, hats, and two pairs of gloves $114.00 at Walmart. I have yet to buy other items for us to go out in the snow. It just irks me that Jon and Kate as well as TLC would like one to perceive a ski trip to Utah as a middle class (J&K like people to think they are middle class) family vacation that is available to everyone.
I think the issue I take with this show is that neither one of the parents hold a job. If one watches reality televisions shows such as "Little People Big World" or even "17 Kids and Counting" you will notice one thing about at least one of the parents in each of these shows; they work! When the show stated that Jon decided to stay at home and "work" it totally blew my mind. I suppose he decided to stay home with Kate and exploit their children for more money and make a career by using their children to make money?
Now, Season Four has been the worst of all seasons when it comes to blatant advertisement in the show. From the trip to Hawaii that was completely paid for by T.L.C. in which most middle class families would have to spend years saving for something like this. Most normal families of four are unable to go to Hawaii, have a private boat, have a private suite to themselves, or get any of the other freebies that Jon and Kate received. It was totally unrealistic, and truly just showcased how they use their children as walking talking commercials.
My next issue came when they went to "give back" to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. First off, they go and stay with their eight children at a four-five star hotel. They advertise for K-Mart, not to mention all the toy companies. Then Kate proceeds to tell everyone in the world that she along with her husband purchased all the gifts to give back to the children at St Jude. After reading many blogs and doing some research of my own it appears that they did not even pay for the gifts. The gifts were donated? I think it takes a lot of nerve to take credit for something that you did not even do (good one Kate).

Overall, it does not take a rocket scientist to see that the way T.L.C. and Jon and Kate perceive reality in this show is totally off mark. The way these people exploit their children, and receive as many free bee's as possible is not reality. Reality is not taking several vacations a year with your eight children. This is not how HARD WORKING people with multiple children live their lives. Reality is not Jon and Kate Plus Eight.

The Difference Between the Roloffs and the Gosselins

I watched Little People Big World last night and I am so saddened by the passing of Roloff family friend Mike. Mike was such an integral part of the Roloff family. I had heard of his passing months ago and was wondering if they were going to mention it in an episode.
I noticed the love the Roloff family has for one another, the love they shared for a dear family friend and most of all their love seems to be so genuine.
Some people may argue that Amy and Matt bicker like Jon and Kate. They don't even come close. Amy and Matt disagree much like most married couples do. There is a level of respect that Amy and Matt display towards one another and to ALL their family members unlike Jon and Kate Gosselin who demonstrate such a lack of respect towards not only each other but to their children and to the various staff members of places they visit. I am so happy that TLC showcases a family that we can relate to as far as how we feel about our own families. Where are Jon and Kate's family? Can you imagine their Christmas dinner? Scott with his booties and wife along with Jen Stocks and her s/o will be the closest thing to family members the Gosselins will have at their dinner table which happens to be on one of the most important days of the Christian calendar year.

The Gosselins do NOTHING that does not benefit them. The "Giving Back" episode was a joke! Lets spend money on 10 round trip plane tickets and first class accommodations so that the Gosselins can take their spoiled children to K-Mart to pick out toys for the unfortunate kids at St Judes. Oh, and don't forget that Alexis got to choose a toy for herself. Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking the kids...they are way too young to understand the whole concept. They must be so confused. "Listen, kids we are going on a free trip to buy free presents to give to sick kids". There are so many other things the Gosselins could have done but as I mentioned they don't do anything that does not benefit them. They want a free trip to Memphis, they want First Class accommodations and they want to promote their show. Oh wait, I forgot "they don't need to promote their show".

Show or No Show, With or Without Kids
In my opinion if Amy and Matt had no children, their show would hold the interest of viewers. What they have done to their farm while overcoming such adversity is what TLC should be showcasing.
What adversity have Jon and Kate overcome? Could Jon and Kate Gosselin pull off a reality show without the sextuplets? Absolutely NOT. Who would tune in to watch a bitchy wife degrade her husband in front of their twin daughters. There is absolutely nothing interesting about this family except for the fact that they had 6 children at the same time and they all happen to be adorable. Could they hold the interest of the viewers without the sextuplets? NO WAY!!!

The Speaking Engagements
Yes, Matt and Amy do speaking engagements. They are an inspiration to many. Look what they have accomplished! Amy beat the odds and had four beautiful healthy children, 2 of whom are twins. A "little person" giving birth to twins is very rare and a miracle. Amy never asks for help, she does everything on her own. Many criticize her messy house, so what! Her house is full of love. How many surgeries has Matt had? How many years of his young life did he spend in the hospital? He invented a device for hotel rooms that would enable little people to be able to perform simple tasks that the average person does. I would pay to listen to either one of their inspiring stories.

Back to Jon and Kate Gosselin. Now, what is so inspiring about their story? How exactly did they overcome adversity? What makes them so appealing to people that they would pay money to hear them speak? She had 6 babies at once, ok. She chose not to reduce, ok. She begs for everything she has. She doesn't "earn" anything she has, or is housing 6 babies in your uterus for 30 weeks earning the right to beg? And Jon, what is his claim to fame? He donated the sperm?

I am so tired of Jon and Kate Gosselin trying to sound as if they are some type of super heros. Can you picture Jon or Kate getting on a military plane to help a family of multiples in this country much less Iraq? Yeah, right.
I wish people would stop to think for a moment about what these parents have done to their children. I don't know if you have heard but Mady Gosselin has made it on a NY Post list as one of the Pop Wraps Most Useless Characters. She doesn't deserve this title, her mother does!
http://blogs.nypost.com/popwrap/archives/2008/12/pop_wraps_top_1_1.html#more

If all these blogs and negative press is not enough the parents to stop the show, they are way more clueless than I ever imagined!!!
Jon and Kate - I know you read this blog, I know you have sent in comments Jon - think about your kids for once!!!!! Merry Christmas!

Kate Gosselin, Not a good choice? NO!

http://www.brandweek.com/bw/content_display/news-and-features/packaged-goods/e3i686368ba4cd6a88c47d03793dcbca66b

Opinion: Kate Gosselin, Most Polarizing Spokesperson Ever?

Maybe Kate Gosselin isn't such a great choice for a spokesperson after all. The star of TLC's reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8 was recently tapped to promote Procter & Gamble's brandSaver coupon book. A busy mother of sextuplets, she made her way from Elizabethtown, Pa., to the Big Apple to help launch the brandSaver Live! Pop-up store in midtown Manhattan on Nov. 28. Through Dec. 11, consumers can pop in to get their hair done (thanks to Pantene) or get a makeover (compliments of CoverGirl).

A brief article about the public relations stunt generated hundreds of responses—not because consumers liked or disliked the idea of promoting a coupon book with a live event, but rather because some people absolutely hate Gosselin.

One recent post reads: "Kate Gosselin, the child-exploiter, is a spokesperson for money-saving tips and living on a tight budget?? Well, I'd guess her number one tip would be to start a reality show, which puts your children to work for endless hours because there are no labor laws to protect them in such situations, plastering their faces all over the TV, for any person across the world to have access to . . . and then you and your husband can live off the profits!"

Another: "Procter and Gamble will be sorry they picked her . . . she will suck them dry."

Despite the harsh outcry from some, P&G rep Glenn Williams said the company itself has received no negative comments at all. "She has been terrifically successful in building positive buzz about P&G and brandSaver."

Williams added that hundreds lined up to meet her and that "Kate was very gracious. She is anything you'd want and expect from a positive spokesperson . . . Any famous person is going to have that kind of chatter surrounding them."

Still, the one thing that is strikingly consistent about reader comments was how aware viewers are of the show's various marketing partnerships. One respondent laundry-listed the brands that have apparently appeared on the show: Croc's shoes, V-Tech computers, Juicy Juice. Others were quick to point out that Gosselin also promotes Kmart's holiday layaway plan, as well as the Grain Foods Foundation.

Of course, not all of the posts were of the nasty nature. One rational response said: "My wife and I have been a P&G product user for 30+ years. I will always use them. Some of these people need to release some of their anger."

While this is probably true, consumer packaged goods marketers like Procter & Gamble, tend to be conservative about with whom they align themselves. Thus, it remains to be seen how many will continue to link themselves with Gosselin. P&G, for one, said they will stick with Gosselin to promote the coupon book for months to come.

This despite the fact that people are going out of their way to log entries like this: "I'm a longggg time Tide/Downy user, nearly 25 years, and this week I'll be buying a non PG detergent. I'll forward this article on to my family and friends and let them decide if they wish to pad this screwball's pockets with their hard and legitimately earned money. Bye-bye P&G."

That's not exactly the kind of attention CPG companies generally pay for.

To all you Kate Supporters

This is a question for all you Kate Gosselin supporters out there. I would like to give you an opportunity to list reasons why people like me should change my mind about the way I feel about Kate Gosselin.
I have published many of the comments that have come through in support of Kate Gosselin but rejected most of them because frankly, they are not suitable to post. They contain horrible language and are very hostile in nature, even threatening.
Please tell me why you believe Kate Gosselin is doing such a great job as a mother and deserves to be put on a pedestal as "mother of the year". She has been referred to as a super mom in certain articles because she gives the impression of running a household of 10 on a very tight budget.
I'm not going to list all the reasons why I think she is not in my opinion even close to a super mom much less mother of the year, but I would love to be enlightened as to why the fans feel the way they do.
I am wondering do you think she is a pleasant person to be around? Do you think she is deserving of being labeled super mom? Do you think if you met her in person, she would even make eye contact with you much less smile at you?
Do you think their family should be selling photos of their kids for $20 a piece under the pretense that the money is for the kid's college fund? Do you think they bought the house they moved to or do you think the kids bought it with the money earned from their reality show?
Please enlighten me because I am so confused, I do not understand the infatuation towards a woman who acts like such an entitled bitch on her show.

My requests:
1. No profanity.
2. Please don't mention that I do not have 8 kids, (how do you know if I do or not) it simply doesn't matter.
3. Please don't tell me I am jealous.
4. This list should pertain to after the tups were born. Nothing prior. Yes, I know she did not selectively reduce, that's old news.
5. Only list things about Kate's parenting that make you think she is such a great mother, not how efficient her uterus is.

I have a feeling the list will come up empty, but give it a try. It shouldn't be so hard, right?

Let it go Jon and Kate

I really think if Jon and Kate want their children to continue in the "business", they should sign their kids up with SAG and allow them to make commercials, fictional shows or whatever. At least there would be a social worker and teacher required on set. There are laws in place that would ensure that the kids receive their earned income, not their parents. The kids work would be monitored and limited. Right now it's a free for all, with everyone cashing in except for the kids.
Jon and Kate are really nothing but "agents" for their kids. Without the sextuplets, they would generate ZERO interest.
Jon and Kate have worn out their welcome as far as I am concerned and Cara and Mady obviously don't want to be a part of the show anymore. It's time to let it go. Bite the bullet, Jon and Kate and give your kids a chance!
I seriously doubt if anyone really tunes in to see and hear Jon and Kate on the couch, how long will it go on? Are the tups going to be getting ready for prom while we listen to how Jon and Kate were put out by having to drive around picking up all the freebie dresses and tuxes for their kids? It's so over for these two, move on already! Get off my television!
How absolutely un "Christian" of the Gosselins to not even mention Beth on their tour. Even the super fans have to question what is up with that.

The following was taken from the Readingeagle.com posted Wednesday Nov. 26. 2008
http://www.readingeagle.com/blog.aspx?bid=2&id=18681&t=Joe-the-Plumber-could-take-some-pointers

Joe the Plumber could take some pointers in self-promotion from Jon and Kate Gosselin

I bet you've been asking yourself, I wonder what Joe the Plumber is up to these days. No? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway. Samuel Wurzelbacher is now Joe the DTV Conversion Salesman, starring in a series of educational videos for VelocityStore.com on how late adapters can make the switch from analog to digital TV.

It seems like a pretty flimsy gig for a man of so many, many talents. Maybe what Joe needs to do is take some marketing lessons from Jon and Kate Gosselin, the Pennsylvania couple who elevated the torture of trying to raise infant sextuplets into a commercial empire that would do the King of All Media, Howard Stern, proud.

There is, of course, their reality show on The Learning Channel and accompanying DVD set, a new book, $25,000 fees, plus first-class airfare, for inspirational lectures, a music video, and a whole lot of swag -- just about everything but a movie deal, but I can smell one coming. (The Gosselins go to Europe -- for free!) Their official Web site no longer contains a"prayer/wish list" for more freebies, but the National Enquirer reports this week (no online link) that during a recent church appearance the couple passed around a plate to collect cash "love offerings" and then peddled autographed photos for $20 a pop.

The Enquirer says the clan now lives in a $1.3-million home in Wernersville and is catered to by a personal organic chef (says Kate "...thank God for that! It allows me to peel myself out of the kitchen to do outings or interviews for the show without compromising my families’ nutrition."), nannies, housekeepers, a gardener and a personal assistant to run errands.

But with the blowback from bloggers growing more fierce, what Jon and Kate really need now is a good press agent to smother the bad PR.

Or with all those potties humming in their $1.3 million home, perhaps they could use a full-time plumber.

An American Family

This is a comment submitted by an anonymous poster. I hope you don't mind me sharing it! It's a perfect example of a hardworking American family who raised their family the old fashioned way. I believe the person that submitted the post below deserves to be treated to two weeks at the Grand Wailea in Maui. What do you say?
To the anonymous poster who submitted this: Thank you!

J&K's list of supporters is a bit longer, but I think mine is more impressive. And I bet yours is, too.

HISTORY OF SUPPORTERS FOR MY FAMILY:

The hospital where each was born. Thanks for everything, inculding the bill. And thanks to my husband for his part as well. LOL!

Employers past and current. Thanks for my pay, ever how small, to house, clothe, feed my family.

Aldi grocery store. I raised 4 kids and now a grandson. YOU ARE AWESOME, ALDI!

Chrysler. Thanks for that minivan, even though I had to make payments until it was paid for. It's mine now, wasn't new to begin with, but by God it's mine now. You take us to school, work, WalMart, Aldi, and endless trips to whatever friend is coming to spend the night. So what the air conditioner is broken? Roll the window down!

The local power/water company. Thanks for the electricity. And water. We couldn't have done it without you. And kudos on keeping those bills coming right on time. Every month.

Credit card company. We enjoy Christmas, not so much your bills afterwards. But hey, bills are a part of life, right?

Thrift stores. You're right up there with Aldi. I love you. What else can I say?

Library. Thanks for the free video rentals. You are the only one who actually gives me free stuff.

McDonalds. Thanks for the Happy Meals. When we get busy with Scouts and soccer games and whatnot, you were right there.

Mortgage company. Oh yeah, can't leave YOU out. LOL! Yes, Virgina, there are people who pay for their own houses.

Kodak. Thanks for that digital camera. We don't have or want a film crew following us around. It was kinda pricey (back in the day) but it's still going strong.

Lay-a-way. How do you think we got the digital camera?

Family. There is NO amount of money that can be put on you. From the oohss and ahhss at birth to the tears at graduation, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE. We have had arguments and sometimes fights. And we always come full circle right back to each other. You have babysat my kids and me yours. We have even been through deaths that left a hole in our family, but opened a place at our table where a newly parentless child will sit until they grow up. And hopefully return with children of their own. We are truly living on a rock, we have never let any member fall.

GOD. Honestly there have been times when faith has faltered. But when the smoke cleared, it was just that much stronger. Keeping our family together. Keeping us real and grounded. Seeing our family from a small unit to something that grew into a family with members serving our country, and their kids. Then their kids. Living literally throughout the world. But banding together at a moments notice. We surely would have failed if not for you.

One Question

If you had the opportunity to ask Jon or Kate Gosselin one question, what would it be? Let's live in a fantasy world for one minute and say that whatever you asked them, they would have to answer honestly.
The question could be about their fertility, their pay, their relatives, their relationships or whatever.

My question? So many! I guess I would really like to ask it of Beth, I would like to know what happened between her and Kate. I know, no fair asking Beth so I guess I would have to ask Kate. If I asked Kate what happened between her and Beth, she would probably respond. "I don't want anyone making money off MY kids". So, my question would have to be:
"Why does it bother you if others are paid to appear on your reality show?"

Gosselin Supporter

In case any of you ever wondered what a Gosselin supporter sounded like, here you go...Boy I bet their supporters make them proud!

" whatever. i don't care if you post this or not because i'm sure you won't. i just want you to know that you have no right to judge these people. you don't even know them. anyone would take advantage of the opportunity to do these things for their children. this is the only way that they would be able to do this for their kids. can you afford the accomodations to fly 10 people to stay in hawaii? you would have no complaint if you were offered this for your family. maybe if you were to stop talking sh!t and for once be genuinely happy for the good fortune of others... better things would come your way and you would stop being so unhappy with your life. maybe you should get one. all of you are just JEALOUS. grow up please..."

Have the Gosselins Moved?

It has been confirmed by neighbors that the Gosselins have moved out of their house. If the house they moved to is in fact the house featured on GWOP, how are they going to explain to their super fans how broke they are. Will they continue to beg at various churches? Will they continue to sell their children's privacy? I hope this is the beginning of the end of the exploitation. Kate has plenty of opportunities now as a spokesperson, an author and other things that don't involve using her children. She has made a name for herself within her devout Christian community, now she can leave her children out of it.
Kate, now that you've moved away from your Reality TV set, keep your children away from the cameras. Do your job as a parent and protect your children. You have your mansion, you've lost your family and friends, please don't harm your children anymore.

Letter from Grand Wailea

This was in response to a letter I sent to Christina of the Grand Wailea. She made it clear that they only paid for their stay at the hotel (which is quite an expense!). I'm sure TLC shopped around for a hotel to "invite" the Gosselins.

Aloha (my name),

Thank you for your email and sharing your concerns with us. Having experienced
the Grand Wailea, I'm sure you will agree that the resort's offerings,
especially our waterpark and kids' activities is an ideal vacation destination
for kids. Our full intention of inviting the Gosselin kids is exactly the same
reason you mentioned, to relax, have fun and enjoy the beauty of Maui. And they
did.

Just so you are fully informed, the Grand Wailea did not fully host the
Gosselins. We did not host their airfares, transportations and activities around
the island. And the vow-renewal, the production film that produces the program
handled most of the cost; Grand Wailea helped coordinate the wedding as we would
do for any couples who wishes to marry or renew their vows here.

I am currently traveling on business but would welcome the opportunity to speak
with you if you have additional concerns, but please know that I completely
understand the point you are making. We got to know the kids well and adore them. We know they enjoyed their time here tremendously especially swimming
around in our pools. It's an opportunity I am glad we were able to afford them.

Christina

I wonder what she meant when she says "I am glad we were able to afford them". Did the hotel have to pay them, too?

Packing for Hawaii, Epitome of Greed

Hawaii holds a very special place in my heart, and these two buffoons are not going to ruin it for me or for anyone else who feels the same about Hawaii. When the Roloffs went to Hawaii, I was so excited for them, I wanted them to share the beauty of the islands as I know it. I wanted the kids to experience the same things I did as a child and my children have. I was almost as excited as they were! If the Duggars or any other family featured on TLC were to go, I would feel joy for them. But, not the Gosselins. Why is it that I feel such a sick feeling when I think of them in Hawaii? I know Hawaii intimately and I know the people of Hawaii. They are the kindest "folks" in the US. Hawaiians go out of their way to make you feel welcome and every resident I know would literally give you the shirt off their backs. Hawaii and her people are one of a kind. IMO, Jon and Kate Gosselin tainted the islands when they visited. They brought their exploitation to a precious place, a sacred place and it makes me sick. Those poor children, they will never remember their experiences in Hawaii, I hope they will have an opportunity to visit again without their greedy parents.
Why in the world did the resort think Jon and Kate deserved a free trip like this? What have they done to deserve it? They live like movie stars and quite frankly Kate acts like one, now. I am sick to death of these two idiots living off the backs of their kids. I am just sick of it. When will it stop?
Why couldn't the resort give the trip to another deserving family. What have Jon and Kate Gosselin done to deserve these extravagances? It's not like they hold jobs or they needed a break from their tough lives. It's not like they are raising 8 kids on their own. It's not like they couldn't afford it on their own. What have they done to deserve a trip like this? They have made money for the network, and that is the bottom line as sad as it is.
Was the first class trip to North Carolina not good enough for this family? What is a vacation, really? Usually, a family takes a vacation because the parents work all year long and mom and dad need a break. A vacation is planned so that family can spend quality time together since they are so busy with work and school.
I am disgusted that Jon and Kate can't say no to anything that is offered to them. It's time this family gives back to the community that gave to them in their time of need. To hear that they sold all the items donated to them for their own greed makes me sick. When is the mainstream media going to pick up on this modern day Jim and Tammy Faye Baker exploiting the modern day Dionne Quintuplets?
More, more, more give me more.......that is their M.O. Enough is enough!!!

Kate "peace-ably" Out of It

If the segment on CNN doesn't prompt the authorities to get involved, Kate's behavior on tonight's episode surely will. Kate was OUT OF IT!!!! Can anyone say "tranquilizer", or "too much wine". Kate could barely speak, she couldn't look at the camera and she definitely could not rationalize what Jon was talking about. "Huh, Jon you got home at 1am?", "what is the bat used for?" "Is the field inside?" Is the grass real?"
You think maybe the governor tuned in tonight after all the complaints launched by concerned viewers? Or maybe the heads of the sponsorships tuned in tonight to see what the deal is. Bad timing for Kate.
I read that the date of the game they attended was Oct 5, could it be Kate was informed of the upcoming expose on CNN? Whatever her reasons, there is no denying Kate was out of it tonight.

What About Beth?

After watching an interview on Fox, I realized that the hosts interviewing the Gosselins must not even do a minimum amount of research on their subject. If you were doing an interview based on a book, wouldn't you wonder where the other author is? Wouldn't you mention all the authors named on the book? Although I don't fault anyone for not wanting to read this nonsense, in most interviews regarding a book, the interviewers have actually read the book,. Either the interviewers and their staff are incompetent or the Gosselin publicist has forbade questions regarding Beth. I go with the former since Robin Roberts mentioned Beth during GMA.
I wonder what is going through Beth and Bob's minds these days? What about their lovely daughters, one of whom was the twin's best friend? Do they still attend school with her? What about the precious older girl that was coincidentally registered with Nannies For Hire? Do the tups ask about her or Beth?
I had a chance to skim through Multiple Blessings at the bookstore. I read that Beth and Aiden have a special bond and that Beth would take Aiden home alone with her. He considers Beth one of his "mommies".
I really doubt that Beth cowrote the book to make money. But, you would think she would want a little recognition, or would she? Is she embarrassed to be associated with the Gosselins? I hope Beth realizes that no one sees her in a bad light for trying to protect Kate and for trying to help Kate get "her" story out.
I have to admit curiosity has the best of me right now and I would love to know what exactly happened between Beth and Kate to have caused them to part ways.

Those Poor Kids

As most Mondays begin as another boring school day for most kids, Mady and Cara face more teasing at school. What is it going to take for their parents, Jon and Kate to realize that the show has affected their children well being? "We will quit the show when the kids are no longer comfortable doing it", says Kate. Comfortable? What do the tups know? Kate has said herself that the tups know nothing else. Their entire lives have been lived in front of the cameras. Under the glaring hot lights, under the glaring scrutiny with Uncle Soundman and Auntie Producer following their every move. What else do they know?
The last statement issued after the segment yesterday frightens me, "Peterson is calling for an end to the show if it is harming them. How about halting production allowing experts to come in? When I refer to experts, I also think Kate's mental well being should be examined as well as the tups. How many lies does she need to caught in, how many family members does she need to kick to the curb and how many innocent lives does she have to destroy before anyone steps in?

CNN Headline News - Jon and Kate Plus 8

I watched the "teaser" for the upcoming segment on Jon and Kate plus 8 possibly exploiting their children but after almost 2 hours, the segment has not aired.
If anyone has seen the segment or has any information as to when it will be shown or where to find it, please post a comment.
Thank you!

It's Staged, They ARE Working!

I know I mentioned that I do not watch the show anymore, but I find it difficult to avoid all the reruns. I caught a few snippets of the episode where the tups go to preschool. A few things didn't make sense. First, let me preface this by saying it has been mentioned on various blogs that the tups do not attend the preschool associated with their church which is an hour away although the preschool shown on the episode sure looked like the church they attend. It has been mentioned many times that they attend the same school as their sisters which is a 20 minute drive away.

Did anyone else notice the same red couches, the same room and the same hallway and double doors that we saw in the episode where they attend church prior to torturing their kids with cupcakes? I also noticed there were no other children, parents, cars or teachers around. The parking lot was empty, the playground was empty. If this is the preschool associated with the school that the twins attend, there should have been much more going on. The preschool is supposed to be at a K-12 school, either the whole school was on a field trip or this episode was staged at their church to appear that it was the first day of preschool for the tups. It was probably filmed on a weekday when no one was around. TLC probably donated money so they could use the church as a set. This way they avoid having to have releases signed and it throws the public off.

There also are so many discrepancies in the "time" factor. They say the school is an hour away, and Jon tells us they have to leave by 11:15 to arrive 15 minutes early after they tell us their school begins at 12pm. Also, they are not the sharpest tools in the shed but I seriously doubt they would drive an hour each way for preschool.

Makes sense to me but why lie? Security? Who knows but if it is true, it's another indicator that the kids are working and it's not on a reality show.

GO AWAY KATE!!!!

In a tribute to Pennmommy's son (yes I realize it was a hoax), I stopped watching Jon and Kate Plus 8. About the same time, the new season of Dancing with the Stars began, so it was an easy decision. In the beginning, Kate Gosselin captured my heart while she clipped coupons to make the most of her budget and juggled 8 kids while her husband worked long hours away from home. But, a few episodes after the Surviving Sextuplets and Twins special I began to notice discrepancies in Kate's stories, a few things didn't add up. It was the episode where she buys an organic macaroon cookie and tells us that these cookies are "healthy" because they are organic that made me try and contact her. My background is in Health and Fitness and I have taken many nutrition courses and have given lectures on the subject. I honestly thought she didn't know any better, so I googled her to try and e-mail her the facts on organic food. Was I surprised with what came up after I googled Kate Gosselin! Many stories and accounts that did not show Kate in a positive light. As the "seasons' continued, Kate's sense of entitlement and her neurosis got worse. She became very unlike-able to me. In fact, I really began to despise her. Although, I have to say she is a smart woman, she sucked us in with her innocent act but the more I read, the true Kate Gosselin was revealed and is apparent on television through her reality show. What is truly unfortunate is that 8 innocent children are sucked into her fantasy world as are many viewers.

I don't miss the show at all, but lately I can't seem to get away from the Gosselins. They are everywhere! Last week, I purchased People magazine because one of my favorite actors and philanthropists, Paul Newman passed away and his gorgeous face graced the cover. I can't think of two more opposite families than the Newman family and the Gosselin family. Paul Newman lived his life to give to those more unfortunate than him, the Gosselins live their lives to take from those more unfortunate than them. I feel bad that I bought anything Gosselin, but I had to have the People magazine, I am saving it just like I saved the People magazine issue that featured Princess Diana after she died. I went to the grocery store the other day and what do I see at the checkout stand? The Gosselin family on the cover of you guessed it, Good Housekeeping magazine! I turn the TV on last week and guess who was on the promo for the Regis and Kelly show? She's in the Sunday paper, she's on the television, she's at the grocery store and she's even in the issue of People magazine with Paul Newman, her polar opposite!
Please, Kate Gosselin GO AWAY!!!!!!!!

Is Pennmommy a fake?

It sure looks like we've all been had. I can't tell you how many tears I shed for this grieving mother. We grieved for this woman because of the love that we have for our own children, we couldn't imagine losing a child. We grieved for this woman because we've lost someone close to us in the past. We've all had someone in our lives that we have lost whether it was a family member, a close friend, even a neighbor or a favorite teacher.
Now, I am reading that some of us were blinded by hate for the Gosselins and that is why we believed pennmommy. Quite the contrary, we were blinded by love. Love that we have for our own children, family members and friends. Our love is so strong, we couldn't read between the lines, we knew a few things didn't seem right, but we didn't question because of our love. We all hugged our kids a little tighter last week, we all forgave a little easier last week and we all prayed a little more than usual last week. The prayers were not wasted, prayers are never wasted.
So, yes we've all been had but not because of our disdain for the Gosselins but for the love of our own. So my kids got a few extra hugs last week, I prepared my family meals with a little more effort, I smiled at strangers last week so even if I've been had, I made out ahead so did my family.
After doing a little reading at various sites, it's sad that some posters have to direct their anger towards a website. Or, the one that I love to read "I knew it all along". Yeah, right! And I predicted the last big earthquake. Sure, we may have had doubts but how in the world would you know how elaborate this hoax was all along!
We should all be relieved that there is no dead teenager named Jason. Thank God.
We've been hoaxed. It is what it is.

Kate Gosselin, the Thief

I often wondered what would have been the last straw with me as far as the Gosselins are concerned. Was Kate going to carry on with her lies, insult my intelligence one too many times or was it that the tups were just not that interesting to watch anymore. None of the above.
It was hearing about Pennmommy's son. A woman who took time out of her own schedule to volunteer for a stranger. That stranger? Kate Gosselin. Time that is lost now, time that she could have spent with her family, with her son. The son that she is now holding vigil over as he sits in a coma. Pennmommy gave her time to Kate Gosselin so that she could have an easier time raising her babies. One of the babies that Kate not so long ago said to "I don't even want to hear you breathe". Kate must not remember that there was a time that her babies struggled for each breath they took.
How can I watch this woman on television that fired this volunteer because she thought she stole "yogurt' from her refrigerator? Pennmommy volunteered her time to make Kate's life easier, will Kate even send Pennmommy a card, a wish, a prayer? Only if it is done on camera.
Kate accused Pennmommy of being a "thief' for the missing yogurt.
Kate Gosselin you are the thief! You are a thief of precious moments! You have stole away moments that Pennmommy could have been with her family. You, Kate Gosselin are nothing but a thief.

PennMommy (Update Oct. 1, 2008)

For those of you who know who Penn Mommy is, we just recieved this comment, please pray for their family.

momof5 said...
PM's son William just posted an update about his brother on GWoP's new site. His brother is in a coma and they aren't sure of the extent of damage yet from the stroke. PM and family can use all of the prayers and support you can send their way!!

Update from one of our readers:
PM's son left another message at GWoP saying that at least 12 people have now called the hospital switchboard trying to get information on his brother and the family. He has asked everyone to get the word out so these crazies will stop. PM and family do not need this harassment. PM's son is very, very ill. Please help get Will's message out!

Another Update: October 1, 2008
As it stands, Jason will never be able to breath on his own and his brain is damaged from the stroke. They are deciding whether to move him to a long term facility as soon as the doctors allow, or letting him pass and harvesting his usable organs for donors.

GWOP Shut down

Well, well, well
It looks like the Gosselins got their wish and had GWOP shut down or at least it looks that way. I was mistaken and had thought that Pennmommy had her blog shut down but have been informed that it was her decision to close the blog due to her son's health.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Pennmommy's son and I apologize for the misinformation.
Thanks for correcting me.

Emotional Abuse

I looked up emotional abuse and here is what I found. It said that if you can respond yes to more than just a few of these, your partner is probably abusing you. I will let you make up your own mind as to why I posted these.

Humiliate you privately or in public.
Criticize you, call you names, yell at you.
Hit or push you, even "accidentally".
Interrupt you.
Ignore your feelings.
Have unpredictable mood swings, alternating from good to bad for no apparent reason.
Disrespect you.
Present a wonderful face to the world and is well liked by outsiders.
Ridicule or insult you then tell you it’s a joke, or that you have no sense of humor.
Give you a hard time about socializing with your friends or family, or not allowing you to socialize with them.
Try to convince you he or she is "right," while you are "wrong”.
Act immature and selfish, yet accuse you of those behaviors.
Complain about how badly you treat him or her.
Try to control decisions.Questions your competence?
The other person places unreasonable demands on you and wants you to put everything else aside to tend to their needs. It could be a demand for constant attention.
You are subjected to constant criticism, and you are constantly berated because you don't fulfill all this person's needs.
Parent-child pattern of communication is most obvious when the abuser takes an aggressive stance.
The underlying judgmental "I know best" tone the abuser takes in situations is inappropriate and creates unequal footing in peer relationships.
The other person may deliberately start arguments and be in constant conflict with others.
The person may be "addicted to drama" since it creates excitement.
When the abuser disallows and overrules any viewpoints, perceptions or feelings which differ from their own.
Someone wants to control your every action. They have to have their own way.
Trivializing, which occurs when the abuser suggests that what you have done or communicated is inconsequential or unimportant.
Drastic mood changes or sudden emotional outbursts.

Writing Sponsors

I have been writing sponsors of Jon and Kate Plus 8. Many never respond, which is fine, they don't have to respond, I figure I have done my part by letting them know how I feel. I have also stopped buying certain things that are used as product placement on the show.

After seeing Kate's recipes and reading so many articles about Kate being the new spokesperson for the Grain Foods Foundation, I decided to contact the Grain Foods Foundation. I have sent them 2 emails, from two different email addresses. Both times I have gotten a message that these letters have been blocked and they were sent back. This makes me wonder, why do they have a contact email address if they are not willing to hear from people. Also I wonder, are they getting so many letters that they will not accept anymore. If anyone has any luck contacting the Grain Foods Foundation, would you please let us know? Here is their website contact page and there is also a link to their contact page on the right side of this blog under Jon and Kate Plus 8 Sponsors.
Thanks,
Stewie

The Plugs

The company that gave Jon his new plugs are using Jon to now plug their business. For anyone who want the details of Jon's balding head and to see pictures of his hair transplant, they are now available the New Hair Institute . This just makes me wonder, what are these people willing to do for a freebie? We know they were willing to leave their sick children. Thank goodness that Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin were still in their lives at that time, so the kids could be well taken care of by people that love them.

This is what the site says...
Jon Gosselin, father of eight young children and co-star (with his lovely wife Kate) of the hit TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus Eight, came to New Hair Institute to restore his hair. He was presenting a Norwood Class 5 hair loss pattern and had a single procedure of 2087 grafts. The surgery took place in late March 2008, and was filmed for a special 1-hour episode of their show, which finally aired in early June 2008.
We'll post updates as they are available, but for now here are 3 photos from before his procedure and 3 photos from immediately after. You'll note the redness in the after photos, which did subside soon after (these photos were taken minutes after the last graft was placed). Click the photos to enlarge.

Good Deed, Gosselins Yard Sale Gives Back

The Gosselin family is giving back. Of course they will be the first to tell you or show you that they are. They have updated their website letting us know just how much they are giving, well from a yard sale that is. Since the yard sale day was a "work" day, as in filming day, I wonder why they didn't chose to give the income they made from filming that day to charity too. I wonder if they will update us on how much their website takes in and what portion they are giving to charity. Most people donate and don't expect any recognition, but not Jon and Kate, here is their latest good deed!

On Saturday, September 20th we had a yard sale to benefit The Pediatric Cancer Foundation. We raised $1106.61 of which 100% will be donated to PCF, our favorite charity. If you would like to learn more please click on the following link www.pcfweb.org.

This is a great charity and we don't mean to take anything away from the work the charity does, we only care to reflect on the way in which Jon and Kate must announce how they are giving back. Well Jon and Kate, it's about time!

How She Does It: Kate Gosselin
Learn this mother of eight’s secrets for feeding her family on a budget
By Jennifer Rainey Marquez Posted September 22, 2008

She may not wield a lasso or own a red cape, but 33-year-old Kate Gosselin is a real-life Wonder Woman. As a mother of 7-year-old twins and 4-year-old sextuplets, the star of TLC’s reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8 gives viewers a peek at what it’s like to manage a household with eight energetic kids running around underfoot. Now, the former nurse is partnering with the Grain Foods Foundation to spread the word about creating healthy lunches on a budget for schoolkids. WomansDay.com recently chatted with Kate about how she feeds a family of 10 without breaking the bank, her passion for healthy food and how many boxes—yes, we said boxes!—of cereal she goes through every morning.

This is a big year for you—the first that all eight kids are in elementary or preschool. Can you describe your typical routine getting the kids ready for school?
I’m all about planning ahead. Otherwise, I don’t know how I would function in the morning, because I am not a morning person! I pack the twins’—Cara and Mady’s—lunches the night before, so that everything’s ready to go the next day. I also lay out the little kids’ lunches in my mind. I’m always thinking: Can I turn that roast turkey into a turkey sandwich tomorrow morning? We live an hour from the preschool, so the little kids and I have to get a very early start.
An hour each way is quite a trip! Is it tough to keep six 4-year-olds entertained in the car?
It’s really the same as having two kids in the backseat, except multiplied by three (or four, when the twins are with us). They’ve got built-in playmates, so on the days that they’re getting along, they can usually entertain each other. My main trick is to have plenty of snacks on hand—I’ve been known to make sandwiches in our van. Hungry kids are cranky kids!

What type of lunch do you usually send the kids off to school with?
I make eight lunches every morning, and I try to mix it up from day to day. I’m a big believer in whole grains, so I do a lot of sandwiches on whole-wheat bread: They love easy stuff like peanut butter–and-jelly and ham-and-cheese. Today I made grilled cheese sandwiches. Nothing is better than a toasted sandwich—the crunch, the melted cheese. I like to use my toaster oven to make homemade panini. And the kids also love whole-grain chips and salsa, or vegetables they can dip. [Ed. note: The Grain Foods Foundation has created an online tool at grainpower.org where you can track how much money (and calories) you're saving each day by packing a lunch. You can also download coupons, get sandwich recipes and register to win a year’s worth of free groceries.]

How do you deal with feeding eight picky eaters who may want different things for each meal?
Well, I’m not a restaurant, so I’m not taking requests. Each of the kids does have their own favorite foods or things that they hate to eat—they don’t have identical tastes. To encourage them to try new foods or eat things they may not like, I try to make the food fun. I’ll take a slice of whole wheat and pair it with enriched white bread, and then after cutting the sandwiches into quarters, flip two of the quarters over to make a checkerboard. Or, I might use cookie cutters to make the sandwiches in the shape of their initials. Sometimes I do a color theme, like all orange foods. The little kids like to guess what the theme is. They’re usually pretty good about eating fruits and veggies, but they’re getting pickier as they get older. Sometimes it’s a matter of sneaking it in—like I’ll make oatmeal in the morning and blend in fruit purée that they can’t detect.

I’ve heard you say that you try to cook with organic ingredients. Why is that important to you?
When I can use organic, I do. It can be more expensive, so it’s not always possible, but I just feel like foods that are grown naturally and locally help the earth. I buy most of my produce at local markets or farmers’ stands. And I feel better serving my kids foods that haven’t been sprayed with pesticides or chemicals.

We all have days when we don’t want to cook an elaborate dinner. Do you have any tips for making fast, easy meals?
It’s almost impossible to create a 10-person meal quickly, so I’m big on making things ahead and then freezing them. The kids love spaghetti, so I will make a homemade spaghetti sauce and then stick it in the freezer. It’s so easy to thaw it on the stove while the pasta’s heating up. And I also freeze a lot of soups ahead of time. I try not to get to the point where I’m in a pinch, because I don’t want to be faced with eight starving, cranky children.

I saw one episode where Jon made a special Korean meal for the family. Does he help out with the cooking regularly, or was that a rare event?
I make about 99.9% of our meals, and that .1% percent he cooks is when we’re making Asian food. Evidently, Jon is the master of Asian cooking in the house! It’s actually a great treat when he does it because I get a bit of a break—although I hate having him mess up my kitchen. But I actually really enjoy cooking, and I make everything from scratch. I love seeing how many healthy calories I can pump into my family. It’s a labor of love for me.

You guys must go through a lot of food in a week!
You have no idea. We go through a loaf of bread in one meal. I guess the bright side of that is, it doesn’t ever have a chance to go stale. We use two to three boxes of cereal in a single morning. Milk, we pretty much go through a half-gallon during breakfast alone. When I’m making eggs for breakfast, we use close to two dozen!

Wow! Do you have any secrets for feeding such a large family on a budget?
Well, I try not to take the kids shopping with me, because it’s tough to get through the supermarket without ending up with some extra treats in the cart. I’m definitely a coupon clipper. I stock up when something is on sale—I can tell you what the normal price is for almost anything, and what a good sale price is. In our state [Pennsylvania], we also have something called rain checks, which means if a store is out of a sale item, you can get a voucher for the same item at the same price. For me, comparison shopping is a fun challenge, and I love knowing that I’m getting the best deals.

Is it tough to create healthy meals that don’t break the bank?
I was always a healthy eater, even before I had kids, so I try not to compromise nutrition for cost. And honestly, cooking a lot from scratch means you don’t have to buy the expensive processed stuff. When you buy the ingredients in bulk and make it yourself, you can make each serving for half the price of what you’d buy it for premade.

I’m sure it’s difficult to keep a household organized with eight young children. Do the kids help out with chores?
Yes! Our twins, Cara and Mady, are old enough now that they can feed the little kids breakfast if we’re having cereal. They even did it this morning on a school day! I try to encourage them, even if they don’t do it exactly the way I would have. And the little kids help put toys away. Soon I’m going to start a chore assignment where they rotate every week. Honestly, with everything that I have to get done in a day, it really does help when they pitch in. I give them a job, and it’s done before I can turn around. They’re fast!

What one thing do you do that makes the most difference in terms of keeping things organized?
For me, it’s all about maximizing my time. I plan everything out to the nth degree. For example, as you can imagine, we have a lot of laundry. To avoid confusion, I wash each category of clothes together—meaning the twins (who share a room) have their clothes washed in one load, or Jon and I have our clothes washed in one load. That way, once they’re out of the dryer, I know that everything is going back to the same room and the same closet.

Can you tell us a little bit about your book Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving With Twins and Sextuplets that’s coming out this fall? Why did you and Jon decide to write it?
We actually started writing it to get down all of our memories from when the kids were little, before we forgot them. And the best part of it is that we have it for them—so they can know how much we love them, how much they were wanted and why we do what we do. It also shows our viewers what we were doing before the show started in 2005. I saw the cover the other day, and I just gasped! I love having such a beautiful family portrait and a record of our memories.

Regis and Kelly Show

Jon and Kate Gosselin are scheduled to be interviewed on Regis and Kelly on October 3rd. I found this information out from the Musings From The Moon blog, you can find the post there. I have already written the show and stated why I think they should not interview Jon and Kate, I also suggested questions that the viewers would like answered if they do indeed interview the two. I am hoping you will take a few minutes to do the same.

The Swimming Gosselins

This story appeared in The Star, the newspaper of Cleveland County, NC. I will let you draw your own conclusions about Jessica's comments and about the questions she was asked by the producer.

Local woman to appear on 'Jon and Kate Plus Ei8ht'
Saturday, Aug 16 2008, 5:23 pm

Want to watch? Jessica Barkley of Shelby will appear in several episodes of "Jon and Kate Plus Ei8ht" starting Monday at 9 p.m. on the TLC network.
SHELBY - Eight doesn't seem like that big of a number. As far as birthday's go, you're looking more forward to 10. Eight doesn't roll off the tongue like a dozen. Fingers and toes combined, you've got way more than eight. But eight children in a pool all looking to you for instruction ... well, eight gets some respect.
Jessica Barkley, better known in her hometown of Shelby by her maiden name, Koenig, is at home in the water. She's been a lifeguard, a swim teacher and competitive swimmer.
She was working her second summer in Ocean Rescue at Corolla Beach in the Outer Banks when she heard about some special visitors.
Jon and Kate Gosselin, along with their 8-year-old twin daughters, Mady and Cara, and their 4-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel were staying at a nearby beach house.
"Cool," Jessica thought. She had been watching a lot of the family's show "Jon and Kate Plus Ei8ht" on the TLC network.
Only a day or so later, her supervisor Sylvia told Jessica she'd been given the task of teaching the twins and sextuplets to swim.
"Sylvia told me, you know they're looking for someone to teach the kids to swim," Jessica said. "Then it was, and you're going!"
Jessica and Sylvia spent two weeks with the family. The first week, the television show's film crew was there to record all the action. The second week it was just the family. But the children didn't note the difference.
"The camera didn't make any difference. They acted the same when the cameras were gone. I thought they might have been more hyper being filmed ... but no, that's them!" Jessica laughed.
The producer asked Jessica questions as the children continued their lessons.
"What was the progress? Was there a difference between the boys and girls? Was it as crazy as we expected?" Jessica listed.

Just as Jessica had seen on the show, Kate was super organized while it seemed Jon would go with the flow.
"Kate had everything stacked ... each kid had their floaties, all the towels stacked up, everyone had their certain color, they each had their certain toy," Jessica said. "You'd see Jon bringing out this box of floaties."
After lessons (imagine a 4-year-old's energy times six) Jessica said she and Sylvia would be exhausted.
"We'd get in the car and look at each other a go 'we need a nap.'" she said.
At the end of the two weeks, Jessica left with more than a new and deep appreciation for the energy of 4-year-olds. "The family gave me this signed picture with 'thank you' on it," Jessica said.

Permission to Post by Paul Petersen

We recently contacted Paul Petersen, a former child actor who is now an advocate for other child actors. Mr. Petersen is currently trying to get Jon and Kate Gosselin to realize the harm that can come to their children from living in front of the cameras. That is really what this blog wants more than anything, for the Gosselin children to have the chance at a normal childhood. I for one would like to thank Mr. Petersen for his attention to this subject and for all he does for the children!
Please check out his website... A Minor Consideration at http://www.minorcon.org/

Mr. Petersen granted us permission to post the following article.

Time to Exit, Jon & Kate

August 27, 2008

The future of the “Plus Eight” is the real issue, Jon and Kate, and it’s time for you to listen. Your children are changing right before our eyes, and all of the changes aren’t healthy.

Consider us your Fire Alarm. The “former kid stars” that belong to AMC know this world better than anyone. We were very tolerant when “Jon and Kate + 8” first started, intrigued and sympathetic as we witnessed a loving mad house struggling to cope with an almost unimaginable blessing.

But, you know the old curse, “Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it.” Raising children is not theater, and we don’t care how much money is on the table. Little kids need secrets and silences, especially as they enter the world of schooling and making new friends.

Please examine the motives of all the people who give you advice and stand to make a buck off your children…including yourselves…especially you two. Not all change is good. For those of us who know what to look for, Fame has a subtle but corrupting effect on everyone it touches, and it has touched your children…and you.

It’s not too late to limit the damage. Remove the cameras from your house, dismiss the film crew and tell them thanks. Whatever deals you have made can be undone, and we have the lawyers to help you. Disavow any and all contracts.

What started as a documentary has turned into dangerous distortion of childhood, parenting, and what passes for acceptable risk in the age of the Internet. The bulls-eyes you have painted on the foreheads of your children will only grow larger with time.

Parenting is not now nor has it ever been a spectator sport.

Mr. Petersen also wrote us the following.

I have attached a companion piece in hopes that Jon & Kate will soon realize that they have involved their children in a process they do not understand.

It’s the Process, Jon & Kate

Our unedited letter to the Los Angeles Times regarding the theatrical release of “Hound Dog.”

Dear LA Times (Susan King),

I expect more of Hollywood's hometown newspaper than providing cover for Industry apologists. We make movies here, Susan, and we understand the process, which begins with “the script.” A schoolteacher who presented this “Hound Dog” script to a 6th grade class would almost certainly be terminated and probably prosecuted. Dakota Fanning spent 7 weeks in North Carolina doing this film...seven weeks of living this part. It's the process, Susan, involved in making of a film like this to which we object. Who is going to protect Dakota in the years to come?

Parents who put their children up for sale are not to be trusted (are you listening, Lynne Spears?). Writers who claim 1st Amendment rights but have to hire a child to act out their fantasies are just not covered by the Amendment, Susan. The impact of the process on children is not what it is for adults. North Carolina has no laws to protect kids in Entertainment, and their film commission brags about this absence. That's why edgy films like "Bastard out of Carolina," "Lolita (the 2nd one)," and "Firestarter" with the very young Drew Barrymore were shot in that state. Of course, you can't break a law when none exists, can you?

What's happened to the footage that was shot but doesn't appear in this version of "Hound Dog?" Can you imagine the internet trade and predictable YouTube videos when the “bonus footage” is added to the sure-to-come DVD? Heavily-edited footage means that there is more to this experience than will ever be seen, yet Dakota was there, Susan. She did the work, acted out the part, and she was not yet a teenager! Look at the person beneath the character, please. Consider the history of Jodie Foster whose stalker nearly killed our President, or Brooke Shields who was the victim of a stalker for nearly 20 years. Think about the internal workings of a gifted young actress whose job is to make you "believe." Can you understand how in the process of making the role real this young actress might be affected? Do you have any idea what this sort of notoriety can bring…forever?

Dakota Fanning will be affected by this experience her entire life, believe me. We must be more careful with our children. The process can be lethal, and for Dakota this film will attract entirely the wrong kind of attention.

It's Show Business, Ms. King...not Show Art.

Sincerely,
Paul Petersen,

Paul Petersen Strikes Again, A New National Enquirer Article

I would like to thank Musing From The Moon for letting me know that she has posted a new article from the National Enquirer, September 29th edition. It is about Paul Petersen's concerns for the children on Jon and Kate Plus 8. When you click on the article, you may click on it again to make the article big enough to read.

How much do Jon and Kate Gosselin make a year?

I had to post this from one of our readers, Libby, she has broken down a few things for us that I find very interesting about how much money Jon and Kate may take in a year.

Has anybody ever done the math on these people? They supposedly get 65,000/episode...x 50= $3,250,000.
They supposedly do 2 speaking engagements/week at a charge of $25,000/which would be $400,000/month x 10 (give them 2 months off...hee,hee)= $20,000,000...that would now be $23,250,000 + selling pics at $20 each to how many people?..est.(theater of 5,000 people) if each bought one picture that is $100,000/speaking engagement at approx. 80/year= $8,000,000 okay now we are at a total of $31,000,000+love offerings and stuff that is sent to them, plus all of the freebies from sponsors. They can end this now and never have to get a job and still be set for life!
These are just estimates of course but how far off can I be?

So I was thinking, let's see how much that would be if Jon and Kate only made 10% of that amount. That would still be $3,100,000 a year.
The average salary in PA is about $59,000 a year, it would take someone more than 52 years to make $3,100,000.
If they indeed make $31,000,000 a year, it would take the average person in PA more than 520 years to make $31,000,000. Excluding all the freebies of course.

And if you are wondering about some of the freebies, well we know that they have a chef who cooks for the "cast" and crew at least 3 to 4 times a week, which TLC must pay for and I bet you anything there is enough food leftover that they can eat for the other 3 or 4 days of the week. We also seen them do an hour long commercial, I mean show, for the farm where they get their year supple of meat, so we have to assume that was free. We know they take several trips a year that are fully paid for. We know that TLC has permanent lights hanging in the house which should tell you that TLC is footing the bills for the electric. Most if not all of their clothes are free, all you have to do is notice the name brands being shown. Most if not all the toys are donated for the kids. TLC pays for their assistant Jenny to help watch the kids, now that Aunt Jodi has been kicked to the curb. Their old website listed, the websites for the companies that took their family pictures, gave them the bibs they use, gave them the strollers they used and so on. I am guessing that since they have a gardener now, that TLC pays for that, I would assume doing yard work would be beneath the Gosselin's at this point. Anyways, I think you have probably figured it out, the Gosselin's probably don't pay for much, if anything. So even though the average person in PA may make $59,000 a year, they have to pay a mortgage, buy food and clothes and pay their own utility bills. Something I don't believe the Gosselin's have done in years. So even if they only did make 10% of what Libby figured out, which I really doubt, they are still sitting pretty, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they make more than the estimated $31,000,000.

Recipes

We have all heard about the wonderful Monkey Munch that Kate makes for the kids. And remember when Kate said something about people who use recipes aren't real cooks? Well, I'm not saying anything about Kate who actually used a recipe for her Monkey Munch, oops! Now finally, Kate is giving out some of her delicious recipes. If anyone tries this one, please let us know how it turns out, just make sure you follow the recipe closely, it's a toughie.

PB & APPLE
2 slices whole-wheat white bread or oatmeal bread
Peanut butter 1/2 apple, thinly sliced and drizzled with a tiny amount of lemon juice
Spread each slice of bread with peanut butter. Place thin apple slices on one slice. Close sandwich and cut into triangles.

Yum, yum!!!!!!!!!

I just found this on a Michigan news page. So I guess Kate is getting even bigger in the food world. Yes, this page allows comments.

Kate Gosselin's Brown Bag Tips
Web Editor: Denise Pritchard 10 days ago

Variety is the slice of life. We all may love tuna on white bread, but why not spice up your lunch-life and try a new variety of bread? Perhaps peanut butter on toasted cinnamon raison bread or turkey and cheese on 7-grain bread? Try a new type of bread every day of the week!
Toast it! Nothing is better than a toasted sandwich ? the crunch, the melted cheese. Delicious! Just because you are packing your lunch doesn't mean you need to miss out on life's little pleasures. For those working moms and dads, most office kitchens or lunch rooms have a toaster oven ? put it to good use and make your very own homemade panini. Everyone will have lunch envy, we promise!
Made with Love. Packing a healthy delicious lunch for your kids is another way to show you love them. Not only do you care about what they are eating ? this is a perfect opportunity to show you're thinking of them, even when you can't be with them. Include a note in the lunch bag or scribble words of inspiration on a napkin. And if you want to get really creative, use cookie cutters to transform your child's sandwich into a work of art ? or even into their initials. These little surprises are sure to bring a smile to their face.
BYOS ? Bring your own sandwich and SHARE! This is part potluck, part tea party. Gather your buddies at work and one day a week everyone brings in their favorite sandwich. The catch (and the fun) is ? everyone will cut their sandwiches into tiny squares, the modern day cucumber sandwich, and share! Even better the second time. There's no better way to save on time and money than with leftovers. When cleaning up after dinner, instead of putting the leftovers into storage containers or even the trash (gasp!), take out the bread and sandwich bags and get to work. That leftover chicken and veggies will make a delish wrap.
Tick Tack Dough. Mix up the bread in their sandwiches, using 1 slice whole wheat and 1 slice enriched white and then after cutting the sandwiches into quarters, flip two of the quarters over to make a checkerboard. It is a great way to start introducing kids to whole grain bread. Kids love fun-looking food, even if it's good for them!
It's ok to judge a BAG by its cover. Most women love to show off a new handbag ? why should your lunch bag be any different? There are a host of insulated, environmentally friendly options in fashion-friendly colors and designs. Sticking to the traditional brown bag? Have the kids add ribbons, name tags or their own drawings and packing a healthy, tasty and creative lunch will become a family tradition.

Damage Control

I thought it would be interesting if we started listing things that Jon and Kate say, that many of us see as damage control. If you know of a specific thing that you think was Jon and Kate trying to cover something up, or trying to explain away why something happened, or why something was said, please share it with us.

I will start.
On the September 15, 2008 show, Kate says... Alexis chooses to sleep in the dungeon, like a bat.

Previously, I believe Jon had said that "they" put Alexis in the basement because she was waking the other children up in the middle of the night. I know this started a lot of people questioning how safe it was for a child to be alone in the basement. Once again, DAMAGE CONTROL!

I also wonder why Kate would choose to call the place where the kids often play, where the family watches TV together, and where Jon and Kate do their interviews, a dungeon, something just seems off to me.

Another flop

I can't say I saw one thing last night on Jon and Kate Plus 8 that excited me. It's not as though I have to be entertained all of the time, but it is why I watch TV.

I used to be entertained watching the kids play and interact with each other. It used to entertain me to watch these kids eat a banana, because I feel if I smile at simple things, well that is entertaining. Yet each time I watch this show, I find myself less and less entertained. It seems that 90% of the show is seeing mom and dad sit on the loveseat and explain why they did what they did or why they said what they said. I really don't care why Jon and Kate did anything, really, I don't give a crap. I really don't see this show being around much longer, if it can't keep a simple person like me entertained anymore, how in the world will it keep people who expect to be really entertained hooked?

Jon and Kate Plus Eight (Dead Hermit Crabs)

This is from the Peta.org site
http://blog.peta.org/archives/2008/09/jon_and_kate_pl.php

On a recent episode of the popular TLC reality show Jon and Kate Plus Eight, the family wondered why their pet hermit crabs were all dying. We at PETA have that answer, and we think it's important that Jon and Kate and other folks understand why hermit crabs should never, ever be kept as pets.
Hermit crabs don't belong in a home or aquarium or whatever for several reasons:
Hermit crabs are very social by nature—in their natural habitats, they live in colonies of up to 100 or more.
They only live in warm parts of the world and cannot survive in places where the temperature drops too low.
They must live in very humid climates because hermit crabs breathe through stiffened gills that are kept moistened by the humidity.
They will only lay their eggs in the ocean and will not reproduce in captivity—that means that every crab in every tourist shop and pet store was ripped away from their family.
So what can you do? Let the hermit crabs stay in their natural habits with their families. Never buy a hermit crab or support a store that sells them. If you see a store selling them, let people know what's wrong with the practice. If you have kids, they can learn all about hermit crabs by taking PETA's Hermit Crab Quiz.

Kate, You Make Me Blush

First of all, I would like to begin by asking the question, "Does anyone mention to Kate that she looks like crap while being interviewed?" Last week it was her hair, this week it was the blush. If, there are "good" moments of Kate with her family, Jen Stocks is not capturing them or she is purposely trying to portray Kate in a bad light. I personally believe what we see on the show is the best they can come up with, which brings me to the episode I've nicknamed "The Show Must Go On".
The show begins with the cast, oops I meant the family shopping at a Sporting Goods store so that they can purchase brand new equipment for a backyard campout. The purchase included:
2 six man tents
10 sleeping bags
10 lanterns
4 air mattresses
8 mini dustpans (Kate's favorite purchase)
10 marshmallow forks
24 batteries
1 box glow necklaces/sticks
3 Huge Koosh balls, marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars
Firepit? Did they own this already? Firewood

Adding everything up had to come close to three thousand dollars. What bothers me the most about this episode and frankly most of the episodes is how they flaunt their spending in front of their public especially since both of them are unemployed.
Our economy is suffering, people are being laid off, home sales are down, the unemployment rate is up, foreclosures are rampant and college tuitions are astronomical. The average American family consists of two working parents and 2.5 kids and they could never afford such an extravagance backyard campout as featured in last nights episode. "It's a cheap family outing" says Jon, way to rub it in our faces. Sure it is, Jon everything is cheap to you because your kids earn everything for you and your lovely blushing bride (pun intended). Even if a family could afford to purchase all the gear just to camp in the backyard, what family is dumb enough to do so? You phone a family member, a friend, a neighbor to borrow tents and you make the marshmallow sticks. I guess family and friends are a scarce commodity in the Gosselin household, you do what you always do. Exploit your children! This leads me to the V-tech ads. I'm not going to bother mentioning much about this part, in my opinion it proves that the Gosselin children are nothing but a marketing machine and just adds more fuel to the proverbial fire. Speaking of rubbing things in our faces, how many kids are now going to have to have that silly V-tech game system? I wonder if there was no show, no freebies and Kate and Jon worked like the rest of us, would they go out and actually purchase (with their money) this thing? Kate, have you ever thought of reading to your children? It actually helps preschoolers learn how to recognize letters and numbers. But, it might be too much to ask of Princess Kate who can't be bother with raising her children.
Back to "The Show Must Go On". Due to inclement weather Jon has set up the tents in the garage. Since both these parents don't work and the kids are not in school, why does this campout have to take place on that night? Oh yeah, production schedules... The kids let Jon know that they want to camp outside and not in the garage so Jon checks the weather and decides the rain is far away and moves the cast, crew and set out to the backyard. Jon decides to roast marshmallows with the kids over the fire pit while Kate is not around. He gives all the kids these incredibly long and sharp metal sticks and allows them to roast, burn and eat to their little hearts content. I thought it was a good idea but personally, I would never allow my children at that age to use those weapons to roast marshmallows. So, where the hell is Kate through all of this? She only shows her face to micro manage, blame and attack her husband and children. I think TLC's way of "damage control" is to keep Kate out of the camera as much as possible. Kate is only present when it is time to stuff her face with a smore and go to bed. But, she makes sure she is in a comfortable tent with only a few of the kids. When the twins ask her if they can come in to sleep with her, she yells "no, you're ok". Sorry folks, I have to say it, what a bitch! The Gosselins sleep through the night with the sound of rain hitting their tents, Jon gets up to cover the twins tent with plastic, again what the hell does Kate do? ever? But, of course the next morning she is the first one out of the tent and she runs into the house yelling, "they make houses because people should sleep in houses". Way to ruin the fun as usual. I'm sure she wanted to be the first one in to hit the craft service table to make sure her face was stuffed before attending to her family. Jon tells us that he doesn't see the family camping together, maybe just Cara and one of the boys. So, it's a good thing you went out and spent all that money on the equipment! I'm sure they'll fetch a pretty penny for it at a garage sale. Way to rub it in our faces again Jon, speaking of rubbing into faces.....Kate rub your blush in!!!!
And, what was up with the "exciting news". Oh my gosh, if it is that they are going to Hawaii, I am going to scream!!! Another way to rub into our faces what us poor working suckers that don't exploit our children can't afford. Or, rumor has it they are adopting a baby or maybe she's pregnant (I doubt it). Speculation is that a baby will make the show last longer. How would that make the show last longer? How boring to watch Kate at home with a baby and it's nanny. I vote for the surprise being they're going to Hawaii and renewing their farce of a marriage. YUK!!

We have been informed that both events scheduled in Colorado for that weekend are canceled. The event planning committee, parents, members, staff, and friends of Mt.
