All You Wanted to Know

Well, are you satisfied with last nights show? Were all your burning questions answered? Are you finally relieved to know who the cameramen's favorite tups are?
The commercials were such a tease "think you know everything about the Gosselins?' It makes us want to tune in and find out what they have to say, who wants to tune in to another dentist visit, extravagant trip or witness their special treatment at an amusement park? The show lost its charm long ago and they are grasping at straws. They've worn out their welcome to 50% of their initial viewers but they still have quite a following as evidenced by the numerous nasty comments left on this blog from their so called devout fans. What amazes me are the hundreds upon hundreds of fans that still buy into them! Standing in line for hours to catch a glimpse of Kate or for her to sign a copy of Beth's book for them. I doubt the remaining fans will stick around long after Kate's bitchy entitled attitude drives them to the internet to find out the truth about this family.

As the episodes begin showing the long driveway, the huge pool, the square footage, the huge acreage along with all the other trips and freebies the Gosselins will not turn down, will the fans come to realize that they aren't the same Gosselins that we saw clipping coupons and trying to earn a decent living on their owns and not on the backs of their children.

How can anyone think that it is normal for this family to raise their children in front of the world exposing their private moments and taking away their childhood. Their childhood belongs to the public now, its on youtube, on people's dvr's, pasted in books with prayers.....when is it going to stop?

I ask this question. When are the fans going to say enough? Please help me to understand why you think it is ok to raise children on television as Paul Peterson has said "parenting is not a spectator sport".

List reasons why you think the show should continue and how it is benefiting the children. Remember, they would not be in a welfare line if not for the show, they would be living an average middle class American life so don't tell me the show has saved this family from living in shelters and standing in food lines!!!

I have a couple responses to this blog and others. I like the show very much. My son (also an Aiden) loves the show too! He loves to see there is another Aiden/Aaden and that hes on tv! Just like Kate has said in other shows...they decided to do this to show people what it is like to have all the children and how their household is ran. If this show had never been created...and you saw this family out in public...you would be a liar if you didnt wonder how in the world their household was ran. I think its amazing to see how they run every...and how organized they are. I admit that Kate and Jon both have some harsh comments...things they should never say to each other. But just having 2 kids makes alot of couples argue and bicker and say hurtful things to each other. Imagine what 8 kids would do! Couple say hurtful things to each other every single day...the only difference between those couples and Jon and Kate is that it isnt being caught on camera and put on national tv. Everyone's comments contain things like "normal families dont get free vatcations...etc" The Gosselins are NOT a normal family! It is out of the norm to have 8 kids period! But to have 6 the same age..going through the same stages at the same time is even harder. 6 in college at the same time...Buying 6 cars at the same time...buying 8 children clothing everytime the seasons change. That is alot of money. Any parent does what they can to make as much money as the can to give their children the best they can....and thats all Jon and Kate are doing. (im a single parent and work 2 jobs and struggle every day...but none the less im doing it for my son)As for if they bought the donated toys or if Jon really works...or things like that...people speculate but no one knows 100% what the truth is to any of that. Jon and kate are the only ones who know. The people who are complaining that they get free vacations...more power to them! Id love a free vacation...and anyone who says they would turn one down is a LIAR! Just like many have posted most families cant afford to take 4 people on vacation...so just think of what the price would be to take a vacation with 10 people! SO what if the vacations are free...with 10 people thats prolly the only way they get vacations. Who says they dont deserve a vacation. I see some points that people try to make...but you should look at it from all points of view. Put yourselves in their shoes...and think how hard it would be with 8 kids to do anything!

Anonymous 11:24am - I have a question, what do you think of them selling their kids photos for $20 and saying it is for their college fund but on last nights show they say by the time they're finished with the show they will have the college money.
Meanwhile, they buy a 1.3 million dollar home and a 1 million dollar condo in Utah.

There are quite a few families out there with multiples, and yes TLC has showed them in a show. But not tons of shows. Plus most shop at consignment resale shops, not Gymboree or the gap.
They live in modest houses not in some huge mega house that the Gosselins are about to move into.

Heck we wasn't multiples, but I am one of NINE, and I might have got made fun of for wearing goodwill clothes. But, I wouldn't trade the life I had growing up for a childhood in front of the camera. Or a rich life. I learned a lot of life lessons from being from a below middle class family.

Annoymous: Lots of families have 8 children or more and live life quite nicely, thank you. I am one of 4 plus 3 half brothers and a half sister. My grandparents raised us because my mother was unable. We had a perfectly fine life. My husband is one of 8. No they weren't all the same age at one time but they were all around 13-14 months apart. My father in law managed to send all 8 to catholic school, provided a roof over their heads and food on the table. All 8 went to college. All without help from TLC. Enough with these two clowns and their sense of entitlement.

Having 8 kids is no reason to be mean to your husband.

The only reason this show should continue is so we can see that the kids are ok. I don't trust Kate to take care of them when the cameras aren't around.

To "anonymous".
You may think we are all liars or maybe you are watching Kate talk.

Get your head out of your ass and listen to yourself. You're a single mom with 2 jobs and you are defending this woman who sells her kids??? Wow. Hope your kids are not for sale.

They definitely didn't ask my "burning questions" and I have a damned hard time believing that any of those questions could be classified as anyone's "burning questions." They really must think that the viewers are as frigging stupid as Jon & Kate.
Q.#1."Are you worried that the exposure the kids have from being on TV will keep them from having a "normal" childhood?"
Lie #1. "Our kids lives are amazingly enriched by filming, we have traveled more than they ever would travel, probably never would have left our town with 8 kids. They're so well rounded and so well adjusted now...It's so normal to them, they're so warm and friendly, they just walk into a room and they're like hey!"
[WTF? What kind of answer is that?...bla bla bla...a whole bunch of words that mean absolutely nothing!]
"People think that our kids will be SCARRED for life from doing this show (jon) I disagree, (kate) they are learning incredibly more than they ever ever would have learned - we've all learned a lot [I'm sure] it's been a good thing overall. Do we think they will be upset with us? NO - I think they'll be thrilled that they'll have the funding to go to college by the time we're done with this [okaaaay] they are positively affected if anything (Jon) I agree (Kate) we don't worry about them. (Jon) Ya they're fine."
After all of that bull$hit, why did they bother with any other questions? They were blowing smoke the whole time and notice Jon was only allowed to say "I disagree" and "I agree" most of the yapping was done by Queen Kate. They are IDIOTS if they think that when their children grow up they will thank them for exploiting them and robbing them of their childhood.

I have no doubt some of those kids will be headline news someday. Whether it be as a bestselling author of a book about their childhood or for something negative which I hope does not happen.

I worry about that huge pool. Jon and Kate are not the attentive parents and don't seem to be home much. If they have one nanny for 8 kids, I hope she knows rescue breathing!

OK, parenting is not a spectator sport. This is true. BUT having said that, the ONLY reason shows like this are on is simple, the public's morbid curiosity. SOMEONE is watching. Enough someones to keep it on the air. Let's just all hope one or more of these kids don't end up on some MTV reality show, drinking themselves stupid. BTW, I hate the J&K show.

Oh brother...the "normal" police are out in force! Someone here needs to define "normal" because the degree of outrage, vitriol and general hyperbole here is waaaaay outside the "normal" range. By the standards set by the outranged masses: (1) no child should ever appear in a performing art, (2) no child should ever be raised in a home which has more than 200 square feet per person, (3) the only moral road in life is one involving living from pay check to pay check and (4) no payments or quid pro quo for celebrity endorsements (could we expand that for ex-Presidents too?).

I hear this child-star, Peterson, waxing brilliant over HIS ruined childhood because HE decided to become of addict. OK. Under that logic, the ONLY addicts in the country should be ex child stars. And how does this guy explain Shirley Temple Black? Make that Ambassador Black. And since children of actors, celebrities, politicians and some very rich folks are also subjected to public scrutiny, I'm guessing the next step in this very peculiar campaign is to attack ANY parent who is also a public figure.

Making money off children...horror of all horrors! I was also an abused child. At six, I had to gather eggs every morning before school. I had to help in the fields and can food for the winter. I remember one incredible incident where I had to pull rye out of 5000 acres of wheat, by hand, one row of wheat at a time. All this was to help my parents make money.

And oh my! The stories these righteous parents must tell their children about what constitutes a decent human being. Success and opportunity? Avoid them at all costs, kids! Be sure to slam the door if TLC comes knocking. Poverty is an honorable state that must be cultivated at all costs.

How incredibly silly.

favorite tups? Who cares? Just the fact that they are, they exist, and trying to distinguish them from each other is enough to interest me. For example, I recognize aeden now, and hannah, and cara and mady. I only ocassionally recognize collin with his big head. Alexis and Leah look too much alike for me to figure out yet. And ocassionally I mix up cara and mady in still pictures, but in video, they are pretty easy to tell apart. i am amazed alll these people can tell them all apart. I only have three of my own and I mix their names up sometimes. Just imagine with eight, caling everyone by wrong names... I wonder if that ever happens

Amy,
Just wondering if you consider a a bowel movement in front of millions of viewers a performing art?
Why do all you super fans think the only two choices the Gosselins have are
a) child exploitation
b) poverty

Believe it or not Amy, there are many parents of large families that work jobs to support the kids that they chose to have not the other way around.
I hear Kate is stressed out by the move and needs a day at the spa, so hurry up and send your check in. Chop chop, times a wasting!

Amy,
Forgot to say how sorry I am that you were "abused" (your words) as a child and had to help your parents earn money.
I would think that since the Gosselin kids are doing the same for their parents, you would show a little more compassion for their situation.
Guess not.

Wow Amy I can't believe you mentioned Shirley Temple. Would this be the same Shirley Temple who made an estimated $3 million dollars in her career and wound up only getting about $90,000 due to the greed and ineptitude of her parents (look it up - Google is your friend). She is one of the reasons there are child labor laws for minor actors today. Those would be the same laws Jon & Kate refuse to allow their children to work under, by the way. How much of what they make do you suppose they'll get to keep after their greedy, ignorant parents get through with it?

Not that I am defending how Kate talks to Jon (or Jon to Kate in some instances), however, what husband/wife has not talked to their spouse in a demeaning, harsh or hurtful way? Why is it that because they are on TV that people expect them to behave beyond perfect? I don't agree with how the kids are being used, but I don't doubt that Jon and Kate love their kids. We're all talking as if we know them, and I don't think any of us have the right to tear ANYONE down.
